SYNTHESIS AND BIOLOGICAL STUDIES OF INDOLYL-PYRIDAZINES, INDOLYL-FURANS AND INDOLYL-PYRROLES

Abstract

3,6-Dimethyl-4-hydrazinocarbonyl-5-(indol-3-yl) pyridazines (2a-d), 3-alkoxycarbonyl-2,5-dime-thyl-4-(indol-3-yl) furans (3a-h). 3-alkoxycarbonyl-2,5-dimethyl-N-substituted (indol-3-yl) pyrroles (4a-h and 5a-h) and 3-acetyl-2,5-dimethyl-4-(indol-3-yl) furans (6a-d) are prepared in one step by the reaction of 2-nitro-1-(indol-3-yl) propenes (1a-d) with ethyl acetoacetate and hydrazine hydrate, methyl/ethyl acetoacetate and triethylamine, methyl/ethyl acetoacetate and n-butylamine/benzylamine, and acetylacetone and piperidine, respectively, in good yields. A few selected compounds are screened for their antibacterial, antifungal, insecticidal, anthelmintic and MAO inhibitor studies.
