Toxicity of the organophosphate pesticide, methyl parathion, is determined for two species of freshwater mussels, Parreysia favidens and Parreysia cearulea. Methodology to calculate the LC50 values applying graphical, probit and Dragstedt Behren's methods is presented in detail. The LC50 values are usually higher for P. favidens than P. cearulea, suggesting greater resistance of the former to the pesticide.en_US
