Twenty one new 1,2-disubstituted-4-[(5'-substituted-2'-phenylindol-3'-yl) methylene] imidazolin-5-(4H)-ones (3a-b) were synthesised from the respective 2-substituted-4-[(5'-substituted-2'-phenylindol-3'-yl) methylene] oxozolin-5-(4H)-ones (2a-c) and appropriate primary amines. 2a-c were obtained from the 5-substituted-2-phenylindole-3-carboxaldehydes (la-c) and N-acetylglycine under thermal reaction conditions with acetic anhydride and anhyd sodium acetate. The compounds were screened for their antibacterial activity.en_US
