Abstract: | The middle aged powdery mildew infected leaves of mulberry variety M5 cultivated at Karnataka State Sericulture Research and Development Institute, Kadaganchi, Gulbarga, were analyzed to know the change in chlorophyll, protein, phenol and flavonol content at five different stages of infection. The results obtained revealed that as the level of infection increased, the amount of chlorophyll and protein decreased significantly. However, the phenol content increased till the 2nd stage of infection and then a gradual decrease was observed. Flavonol content increased significantly along with disease severity. Six enzymes activity have been determined. The activity of amylase, acid phosphatase and alkaline phosphatase decreased in powdery mildew infected leaves as compared to healthy. Whereas, the activity of protease, peroxidase and polyphenol oxidase was found to be increased. © Global Science Publications. |
