Abstract: A high frequency and rapid regeneration protocol was developed from shoot tip explants of Capsicum annuum on MS medium supplemented with 2.0 mg/l BAP + 0.5mg/l Kn. The highest number of shoots (18.8) was obtained on medium containing BAP. The regenerated dwarf shoots were further elongated on MS medium supplemented with 0.5mg/l GA3. In vitro shoots were excised from shoot clumps and transferred to rooting medium containing 2.0mg/l IBA. The rooted plants were hardened on MS liquid medium and subsequently in polycups containing sterile soil and vermiculate. Regenerated plants were successfully established in soil and finally transferred to a green house. © 2006 Society for Biology and Biotechnology.
