dc.description.abstract | The Claisen-Schmidt reaction of 5-chloro-2-hydroxyacetophenone 1 with aromatic aldehydes gave 1-(5?-chloro-2?-hydroxy-phenyl)-3-phenyl-2- propen-1-ones 2a-c which upon cyclization with hydrazine hydrate, hydroxylamine hydrochloride, urea and thiourea furnished the corresponding 1H/acetyl-3,5-diaryl-2-pyrazolines 3a-c and 4a-c, 3-(5?-chloro-2?- ;hydroxy-phenyl)-5-aryl isoxazolines 5a-c and 4-(5?-chloro-2?- hydroxy-phenyl)-6-aryl-2-oxo/thio-1,2,5,6-tetrahydropyrimidines 6a-c and 7a-c respectively. The newly synthesized compounds were characterized by spectral data and elemental analysis. Compounds were screened for antibacterial and antifungal activity. | en_US |
