Abstract: Chalcogenide glasses are well known for their high chemical durability and infrared transmittance. In this paper the preparation of chalcohalide xSb(2)Se(3)(1-x)CuI glass in vacuum by melt quench technique has been reported along with their thermo-physical and optical properties, and sub-micron structural features. The composition 0.4Sb(2)Se(3)0.6CuI was found to be glassy showing about 75% transmission in infrared range of 10-30 mu m. However, the composition 0.6Sb(2)Se(3)0.4CuI was nano-crystalline showing growth of nano-strips of 100-150 nm as well as nano-particles of 50-100 nm size in the glassy matrix.
