The mixed ligand complexes of the type [M(L)(L')Cl2] , where M = Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II), L = primary ligand derived from reaction between benzofuran-2-carbohydrazide and 3, 4, 5-trimethoxybenzaldehyde (TMeOBFC) and L' = secondary ligand, malonyldihydrazide (mdhz) have been synthesized. The structures of the complexes have been proposed in the light of analytical data, IR, UV-Vis, 1H NMR, DART-MS, ESR spectra, and magnetic studies. The antibacterial and antifungal activities of the ligands and their metal complexes have been screened against bacteria E. coli and S. aureus and fungi A. niger and A. flavus.en_US
