dc.description.abstractNew technologies in communications electronics, such as software-defined radio (SDR) and RF switches implemented using radio frequency micro-electromagnetically systems (RF-MEMS), present new challenges and opportunities for micro strip antenna design. In sharp contrast to digital technology where Moore's law reigns, a fundamental law of physics constrains the ability to realize electrically small antennas that are both efficient and broadband. Software defined radio is defined as a radio in which some or all of their functions are software defined. The use of SDRs to make communications has enabled the design of intelligent radios called as Cognitive radio(CRs), by making communications re-configurable at lower layers of the networking stack. The major challenge is to design small antennas which can be operated at the large number of frequency bands. By tuning/switching the resonant frequency, single antenna can operate at different band of frequencies. In this paper a simulation study of a slot loaded RMSA with has been done to verify the dual band operation at 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz. © 2016 IEEE.en_US
