The present research aimed to enhance the thermal stability and energy band gap of Chitosan (CS) -Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) blend films crosslinking with Calcium chloride (Cacl2). The blending of CS-PVA along with calcium chloride as an Ionic crosslinking agent was confirmed by XRD. The morphology of the film surface was investigated by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). From UV-Vis absorption spectra, the optical band gaps of the crosslinked films have been calculated. Thus the results indicate that the crosslinked CS-PVA blend films have greater stability than the CS-PVA blend alone, and promises to be a good material for the Biomedical applications. © 2018 Author(s).en_US
