Abstract: | The effect of solvents on absorption and fluorescence spectra of a newly synthesized coumarin laser dye namely; 6-Methoxy-4 (2-Methoxy methyl) -Chromen-2 one (2-MMC) has been studied in different solvents at room temperature (300 K). Ground and excited state dipole moments were estimated using Lippert's Bakhshiev's and Kawski-Chamma-Violet's equations. It is found that the ground state dipole moment is less than that of excited state dipole moment. © 2019 American Institute of Physics Inc..
