In this paper, a new technique to achieve compactness of microstrip antenna using FR4 dielectric material is studied and presented. Compact microstrip antenna with slots has been a candidate for the requirement in various wireless communication applications. Hence, microstrip antenna with slots is designed with proposed technique and fabricated owing to their many advantages in practical applications. The experimental results show that antenna exhibited dual resonant frequency at 3.55 GHz and 4.99 GHz, resulting in 18.2 % compactness with 270 MHz (7.32 %) impedance bandwidth measured for VSWR < 2 with better return loss (RL) upto -36.14 dB (for S11<-10dB) is achieved. A gain of 7.54 dB and 4.01 dB with linearly polarized, broadsided radiation patterns is also achieved for the proposed antenna. The 3dB HPBW are 38° and 54° respectively.en_US
