Abstract: The complexes of the type MLCl2, where M = Co (II), Ni(II),Cu (II), Zn (II) and Cd (II) and L = 3-acetylmino-2-benzoylbenzofuran, have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, electrical conductance, magnetic moment, IR and electronic spectral data. These results indicate that Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes are polymeric octahedral while Zn(II) and Cd(II) complexes are monomeric tetrahedral. The ligand behaves as bidentate in all the complexes.
