Abstract: New phosphates Na2(R,M3+)M4+P3O12 and NaM22+ZrP3O12, where R ? La, Ce or Nd; M2+ ? Ni, Cu; M3+ ? Co, Al, Cr; M4+ ? Ti, Zr, were synthesized by the hydrothermal method. The crystals were subjected to impedance measurements and calculated activation energy, hopping rate, jump frequency etc. The ionic conductivity values in these compounds range from 10-4 to 10-1 (? cm)-1 at 300 °C and the activation energy values for ionic motion range from 0.18 to 0.7 eV. In general the ionic conductivity in compounds containing zirconium is higher than in compounds containing titanium. © 1988.
