Eye-spot susceptible cultivar Co 419 showed differential growth response to culture filtrate of H. sacchari (Van Breda de Haan) at varying concentrations. Maximum inhibition of callus growth was observed at sublethal dose of the culture filtrate (15% v/v). LD50 value was 90.4 ml/250 ml. Toxin treated callus showed decline both in fresh weight and moisture percentage as compared to normal callus. However, dry weight of treated callus did not show much deviation from normal callus. Possibility of modifying toxin extraction procedure and effect of culture filtrate on growth response of susceptible sugarcane callus and its applicability is discussed.en_US
