Abstract: The leaf and stem segments of Abrus precatorius (L.) were cultured on MS medium supplemented with different concentrations of BAP, NAA and 2,4-D alone or in combination with Kinetin. These two explants responded it all the concentration tested for callus. Maximum callus was recorded on medium containing 3.0 mg/l BAP + 0.5 mg/l Kn in both leaf and stem explants with 100% frequency. The antimicrobial comparison of natural plant and callus extract wa studied against four bacteria and two fungi by using cup plate method. Various solvents such as petroleum ether, chloroform, ethanol and distilled water. The result reveal that, the stem and leaf callus show significant activity against the tested microorganisms than the natural plant extract. The petroleum ether of stem callus and leaf callus has showed maximum inhibitory activity against S. auriginosa and S. aureus than that of natural plant extracts and standard. Similarly, the stem callus and leaf callus has also shown significant activity in A. niger and A. flavus in chloroform or petroleum ether extract. © Global Science Publications.
