Abstract: A novel spectrophotometric technique involving the combined application of Pick's second law of diffusion and Beer-Lambert law for light absorption is described to determine the diffusion coefficient of aniline in benzene. From the absorbance spectra of aniline recorded at regular time intervals, diffusion coefficient of aniline was found to be (1.93±0.02)×10-9 m2/s, which agreed with the accepted value of 1.96×10 -9m2/s. © 2004 Elsevier B.V.
