Abstract: Petroleum ether extract of Citrus medicaseeds, administered orally (400 mg/kg body weight) for 30 days to induce infertility and changes in various female reproductive activities were evaluated in Wistar strain Albino rats. The treatment results were analysed on thegravimetric, histological, histometric and biochemical parameters and based on these changes the fertility indices were assessed. Histologically, ovary and uterus in extract-treated rats showed reduced number of healthy follicles, regressing follicles and also elevation in corpora lutea in the Group I and II. For the study of withdrawal effects of this extract in Group III, after the changes in ovarian and uterine parameters, the results indicated that the animals returned to normalcy and regained gonadotrophin secretion similar to that of control rats.
