Abstract: In the present study series of new chalcones containing indole moiety, such as (Z)-1-(1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)-4-(2-phenyl-1H-indol-3-yl)but-2-en-1-ones, 4-(1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)-6-(2-phenyl-1H-indol-3-yl)pyrimidine-2-thiol, 4-(1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)-6-(2-phenyl-1H-indol-3-yl)pyrimidin-2-ol, 2-[3-(2-phenyl-1H-indol-3-yl)-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazol-5-yl]-1H-benzo[d]imidazole, and 2-[1-phenyl-3-(2-phenyl-1H-indol-3-yl)-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazol-5-yl]-1H-benzo[d]imidazoles were prepared. The structures of these newly synthesized compounds have been confirmed on the basis of their elemental analyses, IR, 1H and 13C NMR, and mass spectral studies. These compounds were screened for their antioxidant and antimicrobial activities. Some of the compounds exhibited good antioxidant and antimicrobial activity.
