Abstract: This paper presents a theoretical study of MHD squeeze film lubrication between porous parallel plates with micropolar fluid. A generalized form of Reynolds’s equation is derived on the basis of Erigen’s micropolar fluid in the presence of applied magnetic force. The flow of an incompressible micro-polar fluid through porous medium bounded by rectangular plate in the presence of applied transverse magnetic field is governed by modified Darcy’s law. The non-dimensional form of modified Reynolds’s equation is solved and the closed form expressions are obtained for the fluid film pressure, load carrying capacity and squeeze film time. It is found that, the effect of applied magnetic field is to increase the squeeze film pressure, load carrying capacity and to lengthen the squeezing time whereas the effect of permeability is to reduce the load carrying capacity. These effects are more pronounced for the micropolar fluids. © 2018 by American Scientific Publishers All rights reserved.
