Abstract: The role of composite materials in providing the required level of Mechanical strength, hardness, wear resistance etc. and their ability to retain the same at reasonably high service temperature is well established in respect of a few commercially produced composites. However the same is not yet fully explored/ clearly understood as far as composites made up of relatively new matrix materials such as polymerized polyesters and secondary phase materials such as flyash, clay, molasses, glass etc. In present work, an attempt has been made to analyze various mechanical parameters such as hardness, young's modulus, impact strength and also thermal properties such as melting temperature, glass transition temperature, etc. of composite made up of polyester matrix and fly ash. © 2006 by School of Engineering and Technology, Asian Institute of Technology.
