dc.description.abstractAn attempt has been made to highlight the current developments of technical and engineering education in India with respect to plans, strategies and budget outlays to provide competitive technical education prevailing in the country and efforts made to promote quality of education to the society at large. The paper reviews the existing literature pertaining to technical education and use of Internet services in India. Explores how Internet based resources and e-resources could be utilized has been discussed providing useful resources-subject gateways and newsgroups. The national consortia eresources covering electronic journals and databases in India have been explored. Further attempts were made to reveal the initiatives undertaken by Government of India for e-learning and courseware repositories in the country. © 2010 IEEE.en_US
