Abstract: In this paper, a rectangular hybrid dielectric resonator antenna (HDRA) is proposed. In the proposed design, the structure uses a combination of a rectangular dielectric resonator (DR) fed by a microstrip line through dog-bone shape slot. This dog-bone slot works as a feed circuit for the DR. Here two different DR materials are used and compared. The study is also made by increasing the thickness of the DRs. Based on the above design concept, an antenna prototype for X-band applications is successfully designed, fabricated and tested. © 2011 IEEE.
