Abstract: This chapter discusses selected environmental applications of nano metal oxides. We present a few persistent environmental challenges that may be solved by the application of nano metal oxide sorbents. The following areas of applications will be discussed: toxic chemical removal from industrial contaminated water and wastewater, catalysts for organic reactions to produce important organic materials, heterogeneous photocatalysis for environmental remediation, volatile organic compounds, and biological/chemical sensors. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2019.
